Keep your stuff smoke free
I used to be a smoker but I quit some years ago and now I really hate the smell of cigarettes and I notice how they stick to everything. While I quit my lady still smokes like a chimney and I have caught her a few times in my office when I’m not around having a cigarette and I just can’t stand it anymore. She’s able to spot a normal smoke detector so putting those up she just finds it and shuts it off while she has a smoke. I was able to find a pretty stealthy spot for this to hang up on the wall so she couldn’t see it right away because unfortunately it does have a big cigarette picture on the front of it which gives it away. You can imagine how surprised she was the last time she tried smoking in my office and she was met with sound and light that completely scared her off. I think she learned her lesson I now knows that I am keeping a very vigilant eye about smoking in my areas. Now that I’ve had this successful trial run at home I plan on getting a couple of these to put up in the office even though I don’t have any smoking enforcement issues at work this does have the additional air quality detector which makes it still useful and keeping everybody safe. Installation it’s just as easy as any other smoke detector except with this one instead of using batteries that need to be checked constantly this is getting power straight from the wall. This also includes a remote that lets you play with a bunch of settings so that you can make sure you have the optimal conditions for detecting anything harmful. I am still learning about all the functions but knowing that it works from my home test run I am confident when I install these at work even with the basic settings it should be more than enough.

It’s exactly what is shown, heavily geared to curb smoking, not overall air quality as I hoped
While it does all that is advertised I was hoping for more of a no smoking and a particulate pm 2.5 sensor / air quality meter. This is most definitely catered to either visually dissuading a smoker or vaper (of tobacco or other vape products). If they happen to not care about the visual deterrence the detector is highly sensitive and will go off; either with a default message or a message you record and upload to the device via USB.Pros: highly sensitive, can accurately detect particulate matter from a vaporized product to a cigarette , the remote is helpful for quick changes, function for smoking is on point and quickly detected vaporized particles before my air purifier in fan mode, nice packaging.Cons: it doesn’t feel commercial grade by any means , instructions are written in the past tense—but it’s easy to figure out ( however, maybe there’s more features but it’s not clear from the instruction ), the cord is your only option unless you build a battery pack that went on bottom, it’s not good as an air quality meter aside from smoking really, expensive, able to be silenced with the button on the bottom, very light and not really a great use case for air quality branded so heavily for smoking / cigarettes.No battery, design is as shown, size is that of regular sized reading book.

Some Limitations, Seems to Work As Advertised.
We really wanted to like this more, but it has some limitations which mean we cannot easily use it as we intended. Chief among them is that it must be plugged in to a wall outlet — and unplugging it disables it. Also, most of the places we needed to monitor don’t have a useful outlet, so that was strike 2. Although it has many useful warning and announcement features, it is quite loudand there does not seem to be any element of volume control. Strike 3, for us, so we are passing it on to some one that may be able to use it.Still, it seems to work as advertised — the features act as expected from the instructions — althouhg we don’t smoke and did not test it with cigarettes.Seems okay, some limitations, we could not deploy it becasue of the lmitations.

Does not detect a heavy cigarette smoke coming from the neighboring apartment.
It does not pick up a heavy cigarette smoke coming from another apartment.I bought it to prove the presence of tobacco smoke in my rental place, instead of saying that I smell my neighbors smoking.My nose and eyes are irritated by the smoke , but the monitor is silent. I set up different sensitivities on it with no change.It does not detect a heavy cigarette smoke seeping from another apartment.

Good monitoring
This works pretty well. It does monitor air quality pretty good and tells you if there’s an issue. The remote brings nice function ability to it. The sound is also good alerting you to too much particular in the air. I like to have it around my shop when I’m working on stuff and it gets a little dusty this will let me know. It’s a good value for the money although I think the design is a little clunky it could be done smaller with a direct plug-in instead of a cord, but that’s the only negative to this.
