Perfect to protect your WiFi network and linked smart home devices
Installed in a closet with three devices plugged into it: an Xfinity Gateway, a Netgear Orbi router hub, and a Netgear 10G switch. Gets me through the seconds without power before the generator comes on so none of the (increasing number of) smart home devices (Ecobee thermostats, BAF Haiku fans, Liftmaster door openers etc.) have to be ‘re-joined’ to the network. Certainly a labor- if not life-saver if you have a smart home and live in an area where even brief power outages are not uncommon.

Do your research before buying a UPS
This is my second APC rack-mount UPS for home use. I spent a lot of time researching the different vendors and their battery run times based on the load I was expecting. I chose the higher rated model for my second one (my first was 750VA) because I wanted to last through outages up to an hour.Setup is relatively straightforward, though I think the SmartConnect interface is very much lacking relative to a Network Management Card (which I bought after the fact). APC wants customers to pay for online access to additional features such as control of the outlet groups, which I find cheap and tacky.Based on my 200W load, the UPS will give me close to an hour backup, which is ample time to safely protect my QNAP NAS drives (they use SNMP to detect an outage and perform a clean shutdown), and to shed load by powering off my NVR and other non-essential devices. The APC UPS is a solid piece of hardware, and I trust the brand and reputation to protect my essential data against surges, brown-outs, and black-outs.

Nauseating Odor / Smell Emitted When Running
I bought two of these, and I no longer use them. These looked great and seemed to function, but the odor emitted while charging / discharging was so nauseating that I could not use this product. They’ve been unplugged for about 3 months now and I’m just planning to give them away. I really tried to put up with the smell but it gave me headaches and made me nauseous. Once unplugged and turned, all of my headaches and nausea went away.

    Great Capacity and Quality
Bought this to power a small rack as a backup and its capacity is perfect. This unit is very heavy and does come with rails. Definitely take out the battery tray before mounting it. Works with synology NAS and integrates with it for automatic alerting when switching from mains to backup and vice versa. Batteries are standard sized AGM so they can be replaced easily. It uses 4 12V AGM batteries wired in series.

    It works
Very annoying that this thing has to phone home in order to get the extended warranty. So far, go kit with proven reliability in the home lab.

  6. Amazon Customer

This is what you need for your server rack.
I have three POE mostly full 48 port switches, firewall, and a NVR running on this and it says that it can keep these running for 22 minutes. I shutdown power and it failed over flawlessly.

Larger than stated in spec sheet
Item requires a mounting bracket to mount in rack. Mounting bracket larger than item as indicated in specs sheet. Amazon does not want to return for refund. Amazon gave me two vendors name to return item, which neither match the name of shipper from the the packing list. I sent pic to amazon to show actual dimension of bracket and never heard back.

    Will be buying more
The set up was super easy it comes with it own drawer, A bit of a warning this is very heavy so have someone with you when you install. The online configuration is absolutely easy monitoring and alerting software is free, no subscription. APC/ Snyder Electric made it a fantastic move to make sure that we can monitor online without any cost to customer.
