The First Alert CO710 Carbon Monoxide Alarm with 10-Year Battery and Digital Temperature Display detects dangerous carbon monoxide for up to 10 years. This carbon monoxide detector uses an electrochemical carbon monoxide sensor, the most accurate CO detection technology available, to detect the CO you can’t see, smell, or taste in the air. A built-in 10-year lithium battery means you never need to worry about changing batteries during the lifetime of the alarm. This stylish CO monitor is designed to sit on top of a dresser or tabletop, and it has a backlit digital display that clearly shows the ambient temperature, as well as current and peak CO concentrations. An 85-decibel horn sounds if carbon monoxide levels are too high, and a test/silence button silences the alarm and allows you to test its functionality.
Keep your family safe with this easy to use digital-display, 10-year battery operated carbon monoxide alarm; Battery powered alarms provide continuous monitoring of CO levels, even if there’s a power failure
Easy-to-read backlit digital display shows temperature and CO concentration; Peak Level feature displays the highest concentration of carbon monoxide measured
Built-in 10-year lithium battery offers continuous protection for the life of the carbon monoxide detector
A loud 85-decibel alarm sounds when CO levels reach dangerous levels
10-year limited warranty; Equipped with end-of-life signal chirp, so you know when it’s time to replace the unit for safety

Accurate thermometer – just takes a while.
A lot of people were complaining about the thermometer feature on this thing being inaccurate. It was certainly higher than it should’ve been when I first unboxed it, but sitting in my room for a day it’s now showing the exact same temperature as my thermostat. Not an instant read thermometer by any means, I put it above a stove and it took at least 30-40 seconds to climb up just one degree. But from my experience it’s certainly accurate enough.Oh yeah, and it’s probably a great CO detector too. Plenty loud for sure.

Essential Travel & Home Safety – Reliable Carbon Monoxide Protection Anywhere!
We never travel without this carbon monoxide detector! Most places we stay don’t have one, so we always bring our own. On our Leopard 40 catamaran, we keep one in every cabin plus the salon and galley, and we also take one along when staying in Airbnb or Vrbo rentals. The one time we didn’t bring it was while hiking Acatenango in Guatemala. After a 7-hour climb to base camp, we were freezing and exhausted when our guide lit a fire. Smoke filled the tiny hut and we woke up with splitting headaches -classic carbon monoxide exposure. That scary moment taught us a lesson: no matter where we go, even up a mountain, this detector comes with us.The battery lasts a long time, the digital temperature display is a great bonus, and the alarm is loud enough to wake you immediately. Durable, reliable, and truly a must have for safety at home, on a boat, or while traveling. Highly recommend!

Perfect for travel
Perfect size for travel and has an off switch for when it’s in my backpack. Plus, the battery is built-in, so no need to pack batteries. Doubles as an extra detector when home.

Works, but isn’t a replacement for the old model
I moved into a very old house with very thick concrete walls, making drilling frustrating. The home I purchased came with the previous model of this detector. I saw mixed messages about whether the screws were aligned the same as the old model. Unfortunately, I found out that the screws are off by just the tiniest amount and won’t fit on the old ones. It’s kind of maddening that First Alert did this. I would love to just know why. Why frustrate customers like this?I am still using the new model, but I have it sitting on a shelf. This model of detector is great for those of us with old homes who can’t drill into the wall. I like the unit itself. It stands on a shelf easily and it’s unobtrusive. I like that it has the air temperature displayed and it has an overall modern look.I still recommend this item. Just don’t buy this unit thinking that you can use the screws from the old model.

I don’t have a title – please read my review
I bought this to use as a travel CO detector, as I visit many different hotels throughout each year. Having this with me will provide a little extra peace of mind, because there’s no telling what quality of maintenance and repairs have been done with systems and equipment at a hotel that could emit CO. I chose this one because it has a temperature read-out on the LCD screen which I thought would be handy. I do wish the unit was slightly smaller so it takes up less space when traveling. It’s roughly the size of an iPhone. I like it so far. But let’s be honest – how could we really know how well a CO detector works?!

I use this for car travel
Often when I am driving long distance via car, it’s necessary for me to pull into rest stops occasionally to take naps, if not to sleep overnight. On those nights when it is very cold outside I will, by necessity, leave my engine and heater running to keep me comfortable inside the car (which means, to keep me from freezing to death). When I sleep in the car with the engine running I am extremely aware of the danger of possible carbon monoxide poisoning, which is an odorless and deadly gas in confined areas. I keep this carbon monoxide monitor in my car at all times, and if I nap in my car with the engine and heater running, I will just set this up on my dash to watch over me while I sleep. And the alarm, if it should be tripped due to the presence of carbon monoxide, is Extremely Loud! Keep in mind this monitor is basically meant for home use and is very loud for that reason, it is especially loud inside a car! But if CO2 should begin building up in my car while I’m sleeping, this thing is loud enough to wake the dead, so I will be able to exit the car to fresh air quickly before anything bad happens to me.I consider this an essential device for my car trips. Highly recommended for both home and car or RV travel use, this is a safety device that everyone should have.

Great CO Detector
The first one expired…so got a replacement – very happy with this little thing, love that it is easily portable from room to room

The detector is exactly as advertised with clear instructions for the simple installation. Even the fasteners are included. The 10 year life battery is a welcome feature.

This is a quite small (5″ x 2.5″) and nice looking carbon monoxide detector that can be unobtrusively put on a dresser or hung on the wall. It shows the temperature all the time, but not that the CO is at zero which I wish it did to ensure it’s doing its job properly, the only reason for a 4 vs 5 rating. Other than that, it’s fine.

Just bought three of these to replace outdated plug in style CO alarms.Nice compact size with clear displays and easy to read warnings, should we ever have CO incident!!While the thermometer function is only a “nice to have” and not critical to the function, this item should have the ability to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius to be sold in Canada. The description doesn’t clearly state this limitation and neither does the instruction booklet. The LCD has an element for C but there is no way to make the switch.

I am pleased with this item.

Works great. Being powered by a long life battery you can place it anywhere you want it.
