Great products.
I’ve purchased 22 Geeni WiFi plug-in outlets of various models inclusive of single, double, 4-switch, several 6-switch outlet strips, and 2 outdoor models as well. They work very well and reset when power goes down. That being said, the only issue I’ve had is due to Spectrum internet constantly dropping which gave two of my Geeni units problems with missed on/off times. Since I’ve switched to Alta fiber 1Gb service with 4 Amazon Eeros mesh 6e units. The combination of eeros with fiber allows for a seamless operation with zero problems. The better your network, the stronger consistent symmetrical up/down use with no throttling back. I highly recommend the Geeni & Eeros products. I’ve not been paid for this review, this is on my own perceptions of everyday use. Alta Fiber also uses Eeros routers for their customer based service installs.

Easy to program, simple to control from anywhere, best app out there.
I ordered this one to replace one that dies after five years of use in a very humid and hot seed germination setup I use to start 600 plants at a time. I have others I’ve been using for several years with no issues. The device is easy to set up, and programming is just as easy. I can use my phone to turn things on and off from anywhere my phone has a signal or WiFi.The device also uses the Geenie app, which can be used to control numerous devices, including smart lights, and many different types of smart plugs and smart power strips. We use Geenie devices all over our home, and use an outdoor outlet to control our pool pump and outdoor lighting.

great for indoor christmas lights and automation
I initially bought one of these Geeni Smart Wi-Fi 4 Outlet Plugs for my Christmas lights, but I’ve been so happy with it that I’ve since bought three more for other rooms in my house. They’re incredibly convenient for controlling multiple devices with my smart home system, and the surge protection gives me peace of mind. Setup is simple, and they’ve worked flawlessly. A great way to add smart functionality to any outlet.

Factual History
Here are just the factsI originally ordered 7 of the Geeni Smart Wi-Fi 4 Outlet Plug with Surge Protection in Feb. 2021.One didn’t work on arrival and was promptly replaced. All 7 were installed with small lamps on each one.•1 died in Dec. 2022. Since it was no longer under warranty I bought another.•1 died in Apr. 2024. Since it was no longer under warranty I bought another.•2 died in July 2024. Since they were no longer under warranty I bought 4 more.•1 died on Nov. 5 2024 and I replaced it with one of the extras I bought in July.•I first contacted the company on Nov. 5, 2024 to ask if there was anything that could be done about all this.•After a delay of more than 2 weeks, they responded on Nov. 24 to say that they would check with their Warranty Team to see what could be done “to find a suitable resolution for you.”•On Nov. 26 I received an email asking if the issue had been resolved. I responded that it had not.•On Nov. 28 I received an email saying “still awaiting feedback from our Warranty Team regarding it. We are actively following up with them and will provide you with an update as soon as we have more information.”•More than 2 weeks later, on Dec. 14, I emailed asking if there had been any updates. I received no response.•1 died on Jan. 16 2025 and was replaced with the last of the extras I bought.•On Jan. 16, after not having received any further contact from them for over a month, I emailed them one last time to ask if they had any resolution.•I received no response.Of the original 7 (plus 7 replacements that I ordered and paid for), 7 have died so far, and I have no confidence that the remaining ones will last. Obviously I won’t be buying any more of them — I’m feeling pretty foolish for throwing good money after bad by buying all those replacements. Having had no resolution from the company, and no contact for over a month, I decided to post this history of my experience.One more fact: I don’t normally check the BBB about small products such as this – I save it for big, expensive items and services. But after these experiences, just out of curiosity I decided to check them out. Will it surprise you to know that the BBB gives Merkury Innovations (the company that makes and sells the Geeni line of products) has a rating of: F?Editorial comment: It seems clear to me that neither this product nor the company behind it are reliable. If you have read this, then you should know that you purchase at your own risk, and the odds are not in your favor.Edit 3/7/25: Two more just died. Replacing with other smart plugs – I hope they will last longer.Edit 7/16/25: The last of them died. You know, the problem with companies building in planned obsolescence and then ignoring customer service is that, no doubt, they do it so we will have to buy more. But the thing they ignore is that, yes, I will have to buy more, but no, I will never buy any product made by geeni again. So, they got some of my money, but they will never get any more, which defeats the purpose, no? And if this review convinces even one other person to look elsewhere, then they lose again. Shortsighted thinking.

Great plug, awesome value
This plug is pretty straightforward. It’s easy to install and operate and offers a great option for hard to reach plugs and cords. I purchased this for a basement project and I’ve been satisfied with its performance and reliability so far.The setup was super easy. I purposely chose this Geeni brand model due to my other smart appliances and lights operating under the same application. I wanted something that could integrate easily with the other appliances and reduce the amount of apps I’d have to utilize in the process.Amazon integration was fairly easy as well. It seems to work pretty well when the Alexa app itself performs as requested. There are pretty limited functions with each outlet other than a timer and schedule option. When initially purchasing this, I was hoping for was an option to dim lights. After labeling the plug as a light in the Alexa app, I assumed it would assign different properties to the selected outlet, but nothing really changed other than the icon, and maybe the analytics regarding energy usage and performance.In the end, I purchased a smart dimmer that is connected to the Geeni Smart plug, which now allows me to dim the lights. This plug serves its purpose and I’m overall happy with the purchase.
