You need the Govee Smart Device to get notified via email!
Installation is simple and straightforward and the manual is very informative. I have had these little devices for almost a year now, and they have loudly alerted me to water overflowing on several occasions so far!Now the not so good: The devices themselves are excellent, but I do wish it had been made clearer in the product description that you need to purchase the Smart Water Leak Detector in addition to these sensors if you want to be notified of a flood while you are away (it sends you an email). There are much cheaper flood alarms on the market, but I selected the Govee sensors specifically so that I could be alerted while I was away from home. Perhaps I did not read closely enough, but I was not aware of this until I read the instruction manual inside the package. Keep that in mind before you purchase.Other than that, great product!

Worth the Trouble!
These detectors will save your under sink cabinets AND more. These water alarms are sensitive enough to alert you to small drips. If those drips happen to be under your water heater, that quick notification will save you hundreds and possibly thousands of dollars and misery from cleaning up the flood damage from 40+ gallons of water soaking into the adjacent walls and flooring. We didn’t have these in place and are still cleaning up from the mini-disaster. BUT after getting the new water heater, we put a set in place under the water heater and every sink and already had two alerts from leaky pipes under sinks. We would have found those leaks eventually but the the cabinets would have been damaged by the time we did. Finding the problems right away saved us a lot of misery. The wifi software directions are terrible but still worth the trouble it takes to set up…

Best water sensors
I’ve tried half a dozen different brands of water sensors. My favorites were the Wally sensors, but they got acquired by Sears then shut down when Sears had bigger problems. Sad end to a great system. Since then, my favorite by far has been the Govee system. When I’ve had leaks, the Govee sensors have been first to respond, and they’ve been super reliable in terms of pushing alerts when there are leaks. It’s very easy to pair additional Govee sensors with their hub. Their app is pretty easy to use compared to most others on the market today. Their whole family of products seems to be growing, which is a positive sign (if you buy a sensor from a less recognized name, expect to have to replace it when they disappear, since alerts from sensors like this generally depend on an actively maintained cloud system). The sensors use standard batteries, and the batteries have lasted over a year for me. One thing I don’t like about the Govee system is that each sensor has only one function — water leak, temp/humidity, etc. It would be more convenient to have a multi sensor that can do it all (like the now defunct Wally Home system), which would reduce the number of sensors I have to maintain. I hope Govee considers offering a multi sensor (water leak, temp/humidity, door open/close).

Saves you from a water disaster
These are essential to have by things that could leak water. We have them by our washing machine, water heater, dehumidifier, and under the sinks. These saved us from a water mess several times under a sink. The volume level is loud enough to hear from another level of the house. They are easy to lay where needed and battery life has been good. We test them about once a month to make sure they are still active and the batteries appear to last 4 months or more.

Use for critical water detection
I really like these simple little alarm. I bought several for use at home and in my RV.At home, i have one behind the clothes washer, under the kitchen and bathroom sinks, and one near the water heater. In the RV, one under kitchen and bathroom sinks, and one in the shower. These work!!! We were camping and i mistakenly drained the black tank rather than the grey tank. An hour or so later, we heard an alarm coming from the bathroom. This alarm saved us from flooding our rig! The alarm in the shower detected the overflow coming through the drain and I quickly opened the grey valve to drain the tanks. Thank you!!When the battery gets low, it’ll buzz, but i test them weekly just in case.I’ve given some to other campers and they love them.

The Govee Water Leak Detectors are easy to set up and highly responsive—perfect for placing near appliances or in warehouse areas prone to leaks. The 100dB alarm is loud enough to hear even in busy environments, and the adjustable volume is a nice touch for quieter settings. I tested it with a small water spill, and it triggered instantly. The compact design makes it easy to tuck into tight spaces.

These detectors arrived today, and the one I tested worked fine in shallow water.Testing demonstrated the alarm isn’t super loud – audible on same floor, and probably one floor away unless the house is super noisy. Not sure it would be heard two floors away, especially if sleeping. What other reviewers have said about the 4 screws securing the battery chamber is true: they are *tiny*. Be sure when removing or putting them back, that you are in a place that will make it easy to find a dropped screw.I have a 5/64″ screwdriver that worked with these screws, manual recommends PH00 or PH0 screwdriver. You have to be careful as the screws will strip easily. When putting the screws back I didn’t screw them quite all the way in, to make it easier to remove them in future.Haven’t tested the low-battery alarm yet.Couldn’t decide whether to give 3 or 4 stars. Decided on 4 because with preparation the screw problem is manageable, so the the main issue is alarm volume, and how much that matters depends on your home.
