    It’s OK
This is an interesting gift. The lamp works but the sounds from the speaker were a little muffled and tinny. It was tricky to press the button twice fast enough to lower the volume vs. moving on to the next sound, but it seemed to be OK at the lowest volume for most options. The light brightness can be switched by tapping on the silicone, I’ve found. I actually do the 4-4-8 breathing technique, but thought an extra second or two wouldn’t be a big deal. It was. It bothered me just enough that I generally keep it on the white night light, which I wish could be switched to a warmer temperature to actually use at night. The 8-hour timer works fine, and the battery life is decent — didn’t start to fade until around the end of second 8-hour timer.I took out the light unit and compared to another silicone night light and realize this is a pretty small hockey puck size inside, not a taller cone, so the light doesn’t throw all the way to the head. It’s OK at night from a distance, but it does look a little obvious that the whole thing is not uniformly lit like the photos. As for the cards, they’re…OK. The design isn’t that great. The periods look like commas so it was a strange font choice. Some of the quotes were close to getting cut off on some of the sides. I would have preferred quotes from meditation teachers of various backgrounds vs. the generic ones shown there.I guess if someone is new to meditation, this would be a nice gift and for around $20, an affordable gift for what you get.

I’m in love with a Buddha! Multipurpose light/noise/mindfulness device hugely helped with focus
As a mental health professional, mindfulness and breathing exercises are things I suggest to people regularly (if not daily) – they’re so valuable, regulating, and free. Trouble is, I have a heck of a time taking my own advice. Focusing on ‘nothing’ (ie breathing) is so much harder than it sounds like when you have racing thoughts, so having a visual cue like this has been a HUGE supporter in changing behaviors for me.It’s a simple enough device, with simple parameters – Green Buddha means breathe in, blue Buddha means breathe out, and (depending on which setting you’re using) yellow Buddha means hold your breath. When the color changes, you do the breathwork alongside it. Phenomenal!!! The two cycles are 5/5 (inhale 5 seconds/exhale 5 seconds) and 4/7/8 (inhale 4 seconds/hold 7 seconds/exhale 8 seconds), and the breath holding version is the most focused and calming for me.While you’re breathing, you can do this in silence or turn on one of the 6 pre-programmed sounds to listen to while your work: wind chimes, waves/ocean, babbling brook/bubbling water, rain, or night time/crickets – all are equally as pleasant, and with a variable volume control, you can have it just how you want. There’s also the option to have this little guy light up as just a nightlight (white in color), whether you have sounds on or not. I’m not a nightlight sleeper (gimme dark please!!!), but I do like to have him on when I’m relaxing *before* bed for some additional light without it having to be overhead.Similarly, you can use Buddha as a sound machine alone too – no need for the nightlight or breathing light cycles, no need for any lights at all. I do this while I work and want some noise but not music. I love the versatility of this little lamp.No matter which light setting you’re using (nightlight/breathing), there are three brightness modes you can flip between to dim or brighten, which is niceCharging via included cable went flawlessly, but I also have been able to charge using other cables I already had, which is great in a pinch. The buttons on the bottom are a little on the small side, but easy enough to operate once you get a feel for them. The brightness adjustment isn’t overly clear to me – instructions say “Lift up and gently tap on the surface to adjust the brightness”. Initially I took this to mean you pick him up and bop him on the head – and that absolutely worked!!! But upon further reflection, I kind of think it means to pick the lamp up and tap the whole thing (base first) lightly on the surface it’s sitting on – which also worked when I tried it.The guided meditative nature and versatility of this lamp make it a huge winner to me, and that’s not to even speak of the cards! There’s a beautiful little magnet-closure having box with a set of mindfulness cards. Choose a card at random and roll with it, or find one that resonates with you the most. Either way, it’s hard to deny the sense of being present yet not alone that these reminders give you.I considered sharing this lamp with my sister, who struggles deeply with anxiety and never finding calm… but I’m keeping him. Would make a great gift for anyone needing help focusing, white noise, a super cute night light, or any combo of those!!

This is a calming buddha meditation night light
This is a good dual purpose product for providing calm and relaxation when hearing the sounds and looking at the serene, peaceful buddha and for sleeping. It comes w/ 4 cycles of light (including off) and 7 cycles of sounds (also including off). The controls are on bottom and there are only two buttons which means presses and double-presses are required to touch upon all the options. For lights, double-press allows for different brightness levels within one mode and for sound it’s the volume. In terms of control, the buttons are small, but it’s not too bad if you don’t have any issues w/ being able to double-click with your fingers. If you don’t have decent finger speed, you might not achieve the double-press necessary to change the modes and can be a potential source of frustration. I think my double-press speed isn’t bad and sometimes even I wasn’t fast enough to change the setting within a mode vs changing the mode entirely. For the sounds, most of them sound decent but the rain sounds and the surf wave sounds do sound slightly muffled. For the lighting, there’s only green, blue, yello, white, or nothing depending if you want to go into meditation mode or nightlight. For meditation mode, you get flashes of green and blue if you’re doing the 5 seconds of deep inhale and 5 seconds deep exhale or the other mode which has 3 color changes for deep inhale, hold, and deep exhale. This works pretty well. I just wish the nightlight was something other than white light as you typically want something more amber or off-white.Lastly the words of wisdom cards. I liked 3 cards in particular regarding stress and anxiety. In terms of storage, the buddha is mostly air so you can flatten it out to half the height which is good. Just poor buddha doesn’t look like buddha anymore.Overall, this is a nice portable buddha that has mostly decent sound quality, nice cues for doing meditation, and it does make you feel calm just looking and listening to the buddha.
