Decent smoke detector with some things to keep in mind
This is a fairly simple smoke detector that does its job with some caveats. Please be strategic about where you place it. For example, it’s not well-suited for your kitchen, or it’ll drive you nuts despite not having the loudest alarm. It uses regular AA batteries (2 included in a box), which should hopefully last a while, but I haven’t used it long enough to see how they compare to the traditional 9V lithium batteries commonly used in such detectors.If you’re planning to test the unit often or need to mute it because it goes off all the time, make sure to have something small nearby to help you press that button. It’s just too small and not very responsive.All in all, the unit does the job and goes off about 5-10 seconds after detecting smoke. That’s what you want to happen. Also, the size is much smaller than the typical fire alarms (only 3.5 by 3.5”).The few caveats are the reasons for not giving it full five stars.

Easy to install, sounds loud enough, but there are no directions to explain expectations for the LED light. Ie., blinking, not blinking. You’ll have to go online to get clarification.

If you’re used to the big, chunky 6-inch smoke detectors most homes have, this one will surprise you. It’s compact—barely more than half the size of a typical alarm—but still plenty loud when it needs to be.Easy Installation: Installation was a breeze. You can use the included screws and anchors for a permanent mount, or just use the included double-sided foam tape for a quick, tool-free installation. Both methods work well, I went with the taped.Power Source: It runs on two AA batteries (included) instead of the traditional 9-volt. Whether this power source holds up as long as claimed remains to be seen, but for convenience, AA batteries are certainly easier to find in any store when replacement time comes.Alarm Performance: The alarm itself is piercing enough to wake anyone who isn’t stone deaf, so no concerns there. The volume is more than adequate for home safety.Minor Drawback: My only gripe is the Test/Mute button—it’s tiny. I found myself having to poke it with a pencil tip because my fingers couldn’t quite manage it easily. Not a dealbreaker, but worth noting if you have larger fingers or dexterity concerns.Bottom Line: For the price, the compact size, and the 10-year sensor lifespan, this is a solid safety upgrade that takes up less ceiling space than traditional smoke detectors. It delivers on performance while being more discreet. Highly recommended for anyone looking to update their home’s fire safety with a modern, space-saving design!

Simple to Install and Gives Great Peace of Mind
This smoke detector is exactly what I needed. It was super easy to install — quick, straightforward, and no hassle at all. Once mounted, it blended nicely into the wall and didn’t look bulky or out of place.The alarm is loud enough to be heard throughout the house, which gives me a lot of peace of mind. Basic smoke detector but with AA batteries
This is my first time owning a smoke detector with AA batteries. Usually they use 9v batteries which I never have on hand, but I always have AA batteries on hand. I definitely like that aspect. It’s just a pretty basic smoke detector, nothing special about it.It comes with a screw set and a doubled sided sticky pad, so you can choose how you want to put it up. I chose to go with the sticky pad because it was just easier and more convenient. It was slightly difficult to get the back back onto the unit after putting the batteries in. It kept feeling like the holes weren’t lining up correctly, but eventually I did get it. The unit could have a better design to make it attach/detach easier. I think it would’ve been a lot more difficult to attach if I had used screws because then the piece would have been attached to the ceiling and THEN I would have had to get the unit attached to the piece. I was only able to get it on because I was able to do it in my hands freely and then just paste it up with the double sided sticky pad.
